Welcome to Athens! This busy, bustling Metropolis, which is the cradle of Western Civilization and values is today a diverse, modern city that pays homage to its historical significance while looking firmly to its future.

Our story begins with the most famous of all its landmarks, the incomparable Acropolis of Athens, overlooking the city for more than 2.500 years with its unique architecture, incredible construction and unique history. Just a couple of minutes away, the new Acropolis Museum, fusing modern architecture with most of the authentic classical works of art of the Acropolis temples in an imposing setting.

Afterwards, the Panathenaic Stadium of Athens awaits, the site of the first-ever modern Olympics in 1896 and the only stadium in the world built entirely out of marble. Right next to it, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the largest temple in the world at the time of construction, dedicated to the Father of the Gods.

Two blocks away, the Syntagma Square, the modern centre of Athens with the striking Parliament Building overlooking the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, guarded by the «Evzones» or «Tsoliades» of the Presidential Guard. The changing of the guard is carried out every hour as a tribute to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Next in line, the so-called Athenian Trilogy, a triumvirate of beautiful neo-classical buildings at Panepistimiou Street, comprising the stunning Academy of Athens, the University Building and the National Library.

But our story continues in «old Athens», the traditional neighbourhood of Plaka. A mix of neoclassical, Byzantine, Roman and even Cycladic architecture, Plaka is the place to immerse yourself in a different, bygone era under the shadow of the Acropolis. The Ancient Agora sits right next to it with the Temple of Hephaestus, known as Thissio to the locals. At the same time, examples of modern street art are everywhere for true urban explorers to discover!

To top it all off (literally), the conclusion to our story becomes a visit to the top of Lycabettus Hill. Said to have been created by Athena when she dropped a stone intended for the Acropolis, Lycabettus offers spectacular views of the entire landscape of Athens stretching all the way to Piraeus.
